Add some style to your dog’s winter look with accessories…

You will love winter with your dog. Winter is a great time to accessorize your dog.

Bundling up in warm clothes is not just for dogs. Some breeds of dogs have a lower ability to regulate their body temperature and are more likely to become hypothermic or chilled in cold temperatures. Even indoors, some dogs require a coat or sweater, especially if it is snowy outside. The chihuahua and Maltese are some breeds that require more bundling up and Yorkshire terrier, Yorkshire terrier, toy fox-terrier, and chihuahua.

Look for blankets, winter clothing, and bedding that can be washed easily. You can accessorize your dog with winter clothes, whether you do it for pleasure or because you have to.

These are the basics to remember:

1. Add Layer

For indoor use or outdoor adventures when cold, sweaters and shirts for dogs are perfect. A sweater wraps your dog’s body in a warm hug. Doggie flannel pajamas are also available. They make the perfect layer for chilly nights. Many styles to choose from, including doggie sweaters, shirts, and pajamas.

2. Comfortable Walking

It doesn’t matter if it is cold outside. It doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t walk your dog. However, it’s important to properly dress your dog so you can enjoy the walk together. Fleece vests, jackets and coats provide warmth in cold, dry weather. Quilted coats can be thicker and warmer. You can even use some dog jackets or vests as a harness. Attach your dog’s leash to the back and hook it up to the collar.

3. Waterproof Warmth

Water-resistant clothing is essential for dogs outdoors in the rain and snow. Rain ponchos and doggie raincoats can keep your dog dry, but they may not provide enough warmth without an extra layer like a sweater. You can streamline your dog’s outerwear by purchasing insulated coats or jackets for dogs with waterproof outer shells. These provide warmth and protection against the elements.

4. Take care of your pets

Your dog’s paws can be sensitive to freezing snow, ice and salt. Your dog may slip and fall in slippery conditions, such as snowy or icy conditions. Winter boots not only keep your dog’s feet warm and dry but also provide great traction to allow your dog to run and play in winter conditions. There are many styles of booties, and many are fashionable and functional. Booties that are water-resistant and have textured soles are best for dogs. They should be comfortable for them to wear. Booties are available in various sizes to suit different paw sizes.

5. Create Cozy Spaces

Although it is warmer in the interior than outside, it can still be cold inside winter. Therefore, creating a cozy place for your dog to snuggle up to is a great idea. You should consider a fluffy, fleece- or other comfortable material bed. Donut-shaped beds and those with raised sides are great for snuggling. A few blankets can be added to your dog’s bed to make it more comfortable. You could also add a blanket or two to your dog’s “pup tent”, which has a flap that allows your dog to climb under the top and burrow in. Many products can be matched to your aesthetic.
