As you might expect, the first ingredients are chickenand turkey, with an additional plus being that the poultry is raised. While many brands include meat in their names and photos of succulent meat on their packaging, you will find that the meats are very limited, even when you add expensive premium and prescription food ingredients. The food boasts a respectable 30% protein, 20% fat, and that means there is a substantial amount of meat and fat. It’s nice to see chicken fat as the third ingredient.

Bill was the original nutritionist behind Foods for Mutts. This brand has a loyal following and is great for dogs suffering from allergies or intolerances. In one of our early articles, we praised Bill for his thoughtful and thorough response to questions from customers. It really shows how great customer service can be.

Bill left Meals For Mutts several years ago, when they switched production to Hypro Pet Care. Our loss is our gain with Bill’s newest food LifeWise.

Let’s look at the Turkey Grain-Free recipe…

There are many vegetables and legumes that we can find, each with its own merit. Peas and Chickpeas as well as lentils and sweet Lupins provide a variety of vitamins and minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, and fiber. It is refreshing to see a mixture of grains, as opposed to grain-free foods that are mostly meat/peas/potato. To balance the nutrients, we also found carrots and spinach.

It’s a good dry food. It is very balanced and well thought out. This is definitely something to consider for anyone who has had success with Meals for Mutts.
